Sriman Narayana is always manifest, nitya sannidhyam, in the salagrama that are obtained only from the Gandaki river in Nepal. The other inanimate object where Bhagavan manifests always is the shila found in the proximity of the Gomati river in Dwaraka. As Sriman Narayana is always present in the salagrama and the shila, during worship, Emperuman need not be welcomed to manifest(Avahanam) and stay(pratista) in them by chanting of incantations(mantra). In them He is svayambhu – self manifest, and with unconditional nitya sannidhyam – ever present.
